The French Route
FOLLOWING THE PILGRIM'S STEPS WITH THE JACOBEAN ROUTE OF RONCESVALLES TO SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, CALLED THE FRENCH ROUTE.
The first pilgrimages began in the 10th and 11th centuries, from several French cities. The most popular route is known as the French route, where we are.
The route is a way of meeting and cultural exchange, with a great number of artistic, cultural and economic currents.

As time passed, so many people went through the route that they had to build bridges, shelters and hospitals to help the pilgrims.
The route was long and difficult to travel, but despite weather conditions, lack of food and the possibility of being robbed by thieves, more pilgrims came.

Bercianos 1900
The French route is the historical route par excellence and the most traveled of the route. It traverses 814 km until arriving at the city of Santiago.
We are at KM 357, in a village called Bercianos del Real Camino, between Burgos and León, Sahagún region.
The village is famous for its architecture and the houses built in adobe, which are in perfect harmony with the landscape.
